My life with metastatic breast cancer

Afinitor not affecting TMs yet April 26, 2014

Filed under: Uncategorized — onbeyondcancer @ 2:28 pm

My tumor marker is 136.  Two months ago is was 125, then last month after my surgery (where a large piece of tumor was removed), it dropped down to 109.  This wasn’t the result I was hoping for, but it may be just too soon to see the effect of Afinitor.  Whatever the numbers say, I’m still feeling better so I’ll take that as a positive sign.  My other blood work showed low white blood cells (which fight infection) and low hemoglobin and hematocrit (which can effect energy levels).  Nothing serious, just means I should pace myself a bit.

  1. So sorry Afinitor did not bring the decrease (yet). On the other hand 125/136 is not a very large increase. My oncologist counts with 10% margin.

The fact that you are feeling better is much more important. Take care!

Sounds like a plan. Just chill out and rest easy. It usually takes a while for the drugs to kick in. We Love You. Dad & Tina

Hang in there. I am sure next month’s TMs will be better!

You did have a busy week last week with your train trip, activities, & working at the store. Rest when you need to and have fun when you feel good. Love, Mom

Wish you were here. Last night I was going through the back yard to mark trees to keep as a crew shows up this morning to clear out fallen trees, branches, etc. As I marked the area, I found some wild lady slipper orchids. You would have enjoyed me, in all my spider-phobia, crawling around in the back at 8pm, trying to see to locate where the orchids were so I could put up some stakes and protect them from trampling feet in the morning. If you need a break from lab results and numbers to … come to Richmond. There are countless things I do during the day that are likely to have you laughing. 🙂
