On Beyond Cancer

My life with metastatic breast cancer

Tough day yesterday March 7, 2014

Filed under: Uncategorized — onbeyondcancer @ 7:13 am

Good morning everyone.  I had a tough day yesterday with a lot of nausea and vomiting.  I went to Dr. Ts office and she gave me anti-nausea medicine and fluids for a few hours.  Unfortunately I still could not keep any food down, so I had to be admitted to the hospital around 5:30 last night.  They gave me more anti nausea meds and started me on a sugar water drip which made me feel a lot better.   Last night I was able to have some water and this morning I just finished a small can of ginger ale.  Dr T is coming to see me this morning and I will probably be discharged sometime today.  She thinks that the new pain pill I started on Wednesday is the problem, but just running tests to be sure.  I am not sure yet how this may effect my surgery planned for Monday, but we will see.

Mike and my mom are both coming this morning to the hospital.  By chance a friend of mine was assigned to be my nurse last night so she took extra special care of me. I am feeling a lot better today and looking forward to a hot shower, real food, and hugs from my boys later today.

Glad to read you had extra TLC from a friend and that you are feeling better. Going home, getting a shower, into your own clothes and hugs and kisses from the boys will make you feel so much better. My thoughts and prayers are with you each and every day that you can kick this!

I second *everything that Kathy said. Karissa, we have you in our thoughts–as always–and pray that you and your body return to normal soon. It’s a comfort to hear you have fabulous friends, doctors and nurses looking after you. Take it day by day and hopefully your biopsy will remain on schedule. Enjoy your boys later today. We are very much looking forward to visiting with them and Mom and Dad this weekend as we celebrate April’s birthday. We are planning on sending home some cake (marble with butter cream frosting) to share with you and Mike. Love & <>, Jennifurr & Family

Hope your feeling better soon. Ethan and Ryan hugs will make anyone feel better!

  6. I lag behind in blog reading. I came across your post only now. Hope you have been discharged in the meantime. It’s great to have your special, personal-friend-nurse, but you’re always better off at home.
